No it is not a different flavored shake that Wisconsin Taverns serve each day. Shake of the Day is a common Tavern amusement in our state. As a general rule, five dice are placed in a leather cup that is dubbed the “dice cup”. In many bars, the first patron of the day often sets the number for the day, which is then noted somewhere in the bar. It may be a simple card that corresponds to the number or maybe an oversized dice that is turned to the number of the day. Next time you are in a Tavern, scan the bar and see if you can locate the number for the day. This is where the game gets a little complicated. Almost every bar has a different set of rules for what constitutes a winning hand. It is one of those simple elements of a Wisconsin Tavern that make it both unique and fun.
